I have an appointment soon to see a doctor about weight loss – a local doctor that prescribes Adipex/phentermine regularly to patients. Is there a difference between Adipex and the generic phentermine? Will more weight loss result in using one vs the other? How well do they work at controlling appetite? Has anyone had great results using these? I’ve tried Meridia before – years ago from my gyno, when I only had 20 pounds to lose….now I have about 50 to lose. The Meridia was a low dosage pill and I don’t remember it doing anything at all for me and I quit taking it. Several years later at the same Dr. I mentioned diet pills again and he wouldn’t hear of it…….said to try the South Beach diet and that was it. So now I hear of a local Dr. who is into prescribing Phentermine…and I want to give it a try.
llewen – thanks for the info. This local Dr. practices Internal Medicine and doesn’t seem to have a problem prescribing it – when I made the appt they didn’t even ask me why I wanted to see him, so I’m assuming that most of his patients are coming in for this same issue. I just checked with my coworker and he prescribes the generic Phentermine…not the real thing. Hope this doesn’t make a difference in my results and I hope it’s stronger than the Meridia..and if I remember correctly my gyno said there was some controversy over that pill too.
